In addition to the base V-6 engine, the Explorer offers one of the rising stars in the EcoBoost lineup, Ford’s 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 280 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

The final engine offered on the SUV will be Ford’s EcoBoost version of the 3.5-liter V-6. This engine is rated at 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

In addition to the three engine options, car shoppers considering the 2018 Explorer will have five trim levels to choose from. The SUV will be offered in base, XLT, Limited, Sport and Platinum models. Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive systems are available on the base, XLT and Limited trim levels, while the Sport and Platinum lines are only available with all-wheel drive.
